SUMMARY:Try It You'll Like It Group's 41st
DESCRIPTION:Feel free to bring a dish or dessert\, there will also be a 50/50 raffle!The Try It You’ll Like It Group is celebrating its 41st Anniversary\, marking more than four decades of carrying the message and providing a place for fellowship and recovery. \n\n\n\nThe group began in January 1985\, when Charlie G. and Denny A. recognized the need for a non-smoking A.A. meeting. The group began meeting on Wednesday nights in the basement of St. Andrew’s Church\, with speaker/discussion meetings and a Big Book meeting on the first Wednesday of each month. \n\n\n\nAnd apparently the group had a sense of humor from the beginning. One piece of its recorded history recalls inviting the pastor of St. Andrew’s to speak at the anniversary celebration\, only for him to receive a Styrofoam cup with a hole in it two years in a row! \n\n\n\n41 years later\, the story continues. \n\n\n\nAs we celebrate this anniversary\, we would also like to update the history of the Try It You’ll Like It Group. Our District 47 Archives preserve some of the group’s early story\, but many years have passed since that history was recorded. \n\n\n\nIf you have been part of Try It You’ll Like It over the years\, we would love to hear what you remember. Who were some of the members who helped keep the group going? How has the meeting changed? What traditions\, anniversary celebrations\, memorable moments\, or stories should be preserved?
